Sin embargo, parte de esta tesis, estudia posibles substancias antitumorales que ataquen a la otra mitad de la mol\u00e9cula, el anillo de la ribosa5p. La ribosa5p solamente es sintetizada a partir de glucosa a trav\u00e9s de la v\u00eda oxidativa y no oxidativa de las pentosas fosfato.  el estudio de la dhea-s (un inhibidor acompetitivo de la g6pdh) y de la oxitiamina (un inhibidor no-competitivo de la transcetolasa (tk) y antivitamina de la tiamina, la cual es un cofactor de la transcetolasa) demostr\u00f3 que dosis crecientes de ambos inhibidores por separado o juntos inhiben el crecimiento tumoral in vivo en ratones consangu\u00edneos portadores del tumor asc\u00edtico de ehrlich. Adem\u00e1s dicho tumor mostr\u00f3 un aumento de su poblaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas en g0\/g1 y una disminuci\u00f3n simultanea de las c\u00e9lulas en las fases s, g2\/m del ciclo celular, despu\u00e9s del tratamiento con dhea-s y oxitiamina, siendo el resultado m\u00e1s efectivo cuando se mezclan los dos antimetabolitos. a las dosis probadas no se encontr\u00f3 ning\u00fan signo de histotoxicidad en h\u00edgado, ri\u00f1on y cerebro de los ratones portadores del tumor.  la aplicaci\u00f3n de los coeficientes de control de la teor\u00eda del control metab\u00f3lico (mca) en el tumor asc\u00edtico de ehrilich para el complejo tiamina-tk in vivo, en los ratones consangu\u00edneos dio un valor de 0.9. Igualmente, a partir de este valor de 0.9 y del nivel de dificiencia en tiamina que presenta el tumor, se puede prever el hecho de que la suplementaci\u00f3n con tiamina puede estimular el crecimiento tumoral. Cuando esta suplementaci\u00f3n es de 25 veces la dosis diaria recomendada (rda) el tumor asc\u00edtico crece un 164% comparado con los ratones control.
