El metodo de optimizacion se basa en la identificacion de los factores que contribuyen al buen comportamiento resistente y dimensional de la presa. Partiendo de un cierto numero de presas de dimensiones generadas al azar, un algoritmo iterativo genera otras nuevas hasta llegar al optimo. En cada iteracion se valoran las presas existentes segun la funcion a minimizar, el comportamiento tensional y el cumplimiento de las limitaciones dimensionales. Con estos resultados se combinan las caracteristicas de las soluciones presentes de formas que las que tengan mejores cualidades adquieran mas relevancia en la siguiente iteracion y contribuyan con sus caracteristicas en mayor medida que las demas. Se desencadena asi un proceso de \u00absupervivencia del mejor\u00bb similar al descrito en la teoria de darwin para los sistemas biologicos.
