Hemos comprobado que este organoclorado provoca un descenso significativo en la oxidacion de acetato y glucosa. Esto puede ser una consecuencia de la inhibicion del transporte como se demuestra en los estudios de captura de glucosa. Sin embargo, la captura de mio-inositol no esta afectada.  por otra parte, los isomeros alfa y beta del hexaclorociclohexano, cuya estructura es muy similar al muco y mio-inositol, inhiben a la fosfatidil inositol sintasa, sin alterar la actividad fosfatidilinositol quinasa ni la fosfatidilinositol fosfato quinasa. Tambien observamos modificaciones en la hidrolisis de fosfatidilinositoles por accion de estos toxicos, asi, los niveles de inositol monofosfato, inositol difosfato e inositol trifosfato se incrementaron en presencia del alfa y beta hch.
