De hecho, en condiciones basales ambas v\u00edas se encuentran activas.  ademas, estudiando las v\u00edas de supervivencia pi3k\/pkb y erk observamos tambien su inactivaci\u00f3n, por desfosforilaci\u00f3n de las quinasas de dichas vias.  a su vez se ha observado que el medio proapopt\u00f3tico induce la activaci\u00f3n de la actividad serina\/treonina fosfatasa de tipo 2a, 2b y 2c.  el litio protege frente a la apoptosis inducida por el medio con bajas concentraciones de potasio, impidiendo la inactivaci\u00f3n de la pkb y la activaci\u00f3n de la gsk3. Como, adem\u00e1s, el litio reduce la activaci\u00f3n de las fosfatasas estudiadas planteamos la hip\u00f3tesis de que el efecto neuroprotector del litio sea debido a que mantiene activa la v\u00eda antiapopt\u00f3tica pi3k\/pkb.  apoyando a la anterior hip\u00f3tesis, hemos descrito que la protecci\u00f3n del litio frente a la ceramida se debe a que impide la desfosforilaci\u00f3n de pkb y gsk3 a traves de su bloqueo de la activaci\u00f3n de la pp2a.  por otro lado, el valproato protege frente a la apoptosis inducida por el medio bajo en potasio siempre y cuando la via pi3k\/pkb se encuentra activa.  su mecanismo protector parece estar relacionado con las reservas de calcio intracelulares, las cuales son necesarias para que el valproato ejerza su efecto
