Mediante tecnicas inmunocitoquimicas, se ha estudiado la presencia en ellas de peptidos reguladores y aminas. Se han detectado celulas inmunorreactivas (ir) con antisueros especificos frente a cromogranina a, serotonina ceruleina\/gastrina\/cck (cer\/g\/cck), pyy, pp, neurotensina, somatostatina glp-1, glucagon, cck n-terminal y bombesina. Se han observado tambien fibras nerviosas ir para vip o sustancia p en la pared intestinal. Mediante la tecnica fino-semifino y las tecnicas inmunocitoquimicas al microscopio electronico, se han identificado los rasgos ultraestructurales de las celulas ir con antiserotonina, cer\/g\/cck y pyy\/pp. Por ultimo, se ha puesto de manifiesto la existencia de celulas doblemente positivas para algunos antisueros (serotonina y pyy\/pp o bombesina, pyy\/pp y cer\/g\/cck, glucagon y glp-1,  y
