En medio sin suero, el tgf-b, en un amplio margen de concentraciones, estimulaba la sintesis de dna. Un efecto similar fue observado con la insulina incluso en tiempos mas cortos.  cuando el tgf-b y la insulina se adicionaban conjuntamente el efecto mitogenico era mayor que el de cada uno por separado. El pdgf, que no es mitogenico por el mismo en esta linea celular, no aumentaba la respuesta al tgf-b.  tanto el tgf-b como la insulina estimulaban la incorporacion de 14c-uridina. El incremento de rna inducida por el tgf-b precedia la sintesis de dna. La adenosina no aumentaba la respuesta mitogenica al tgf-b, pero si la del pdgf. El tgf-b bloqueaba la respuesta inhibidora de elevadas concentraciones de estradiol, pero no la de dexametasona. La insulina aumentaba la expresion del mrna del b-ngf y c-myc en la segunda hora, y el tgf-b aumentaba esta expresion en la sexta.
