Puesto que la funcion de sintetizar e hidrolizar el atp debe ser una funcion estable en todos los organismos, la atpasa es un enzima muy conservado.  mientras que en casi todos los organismos la atpasa es de tipo fof1, en halobacterias del grupo de los arqueobacterias se ha encontrado una atpasa con notables diferencias.  en el trabajo presentado se ha desaro lado un metodo para la purificacion del enzima estrictamente sal-dependiente.  mediante tests de hidrolisis se ha podido caracterizar sus propiedades y con westernblots y geles de sds se ha visualizado el enzima y su estructura.  la proteina se compone probablemente de 5 subunidades, de 54, 50, 40, 24 y 8 kda.  la hidrolisis requiere condiciones de ph 9, 3m nac1, 40 grados c. Y 1 mm mg2+; 1:1 con atp.  se ha observado activacion e inhibicion que caracteriza la atpasa a tener una configuracion entre el tipo f y v-atpasa.
