Dicho estudio se lleva a cabo mediante herramientas derivadas del analisis del discurso, en especial los conceptos basicos de la teoria de los actos de habla y el principio de cooperacion de h.P. Grice. Se observa que en las seis piezas teatrales de pinter seleccionadas para el estudio (the room (1957), the birthday party (1957), the caretaker (1960), the homecoming (1965), old times (1971) y mountain language (1988)) se produce una tematizacion del lenguaje entendido como mecanismo de poder, susceptible de ser utilizado para negociar relaciones y para construir versiones de la realidad y tratar de imponerlas a los otros. En las cinco primeras piezas, dicha tematizacion va acompa\u00f1ada de un fenomeno de desautomatizacion de la funcion pragmatica del dialogo dramatico que le da un relieve inusitado. En cambio, en mountain language representativa de la politizacion de la produccion pinteriana en los ochenta, se produce una reivindicacion de la funcion referencial como via de expresion de
