Una primera parte trata la tradicion de la tebaida en general, en cinco apartados concretos: los manuscritos, la historia del texto, los comentarios y textos afines, las ediciones y traducciones, y finalmente la influencia en autores posteriores.  la segunda parte se centra en el estudio de los manuscritos de toledo, tortosa y salamanca en primer lugar, sigue con el analisis de la traduccion hecha por juan de arjona y gregorio morillo, y termina con una aproximacion a la influencia de la tebaida en la literatura espa\u00f1ola, con especial atencion a la poesia epica del siglo de oro y al
