Las especies de este g\u00e9nero son fuente de gluc\u00f3sidos cardiot\u00f3nicos, utilizados en el tratamiento de la insuficiencia cardiaca.  en primer lugar se presenta un protocolo para la criopreservaci\u00f3n y recuperaci\u00f3n de genotipos seleccionados de digitalis obscrua, mediante la t\u00e9cnica de encapsulaci\u00f3n-deshidrataci\u00f3n de \u00e1pices caulinares. La estabilidad gen\u00e9tica del material vegetal se evalu\u00f3 mediante marcadores rapd.  los restantes apartados de esta memoria se centra en el endemismo balear digitalis minor, que comprende dos variedades, var. Minor y var. Palaui. la posible aportaci\u00f3n de esta especie a la mejora de la producci\u00f3n de carden\u00f3lidos no ha sido estudiada hasta el momento.  se aborda inicialmente el estudio de la diversidad gen\u00e9tica en 17 poblaciones naturales distribuidas en mallorca, menorca y cabrera. Los resultados mostraron que la mayor\u00eda de la diversidad gen\u00e9tica se distribuye entre individuos dentro de las poblaciones, como corresponde a una especie al\u00f3gama, aunque existe una estructura poblacional significativa. El an\u00e1lisis no discrimin\u00f3, sin embargo, entre las dos variedades ni tampoco se encontr\u00f3 partici\u00f3n signficativa entre las islas. Los posteriores estudios centrados en el comportamiento in vitro de la especie han permitido dise\u00f1ar protocolos de regeneraci\u00f3n, tanto a\u00f1adiendo reguladores de crecimiento al medio de cultivo como mediante transforamci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica con la cepa 82.139 de agrobacterium tumefaciens, inductora de caulog\u00e9nesis. Los tallos obtendios se enraizaron y aclimataron a condiciones de invernadero. Por \u00faltimo se ha establecido por primera vez en el g\u00e9nero digitalis un protocolo para la transformaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica mediante cocultivo de explantos foliares con cepas modificadas de a. Tumefaciens.
