Tras el inicio de la senescencia la fotosintesis disminuyo rapidamente debido al descenso de la conductancia residual. La disminucion de los cocientes clorofila a\/b y clorofila\/carotenoides y del contenido de clorofila total, junto con las observaciones al microscopio electronico indican que la senescencia se caracteriza por la destruccion paulatina de cloroplastos enteros. Durante el llenado del grano la sintesis de etileno en la espiga se mantiene baja y no es estimulada por la sacarosa y el acido indolacetico (aia). La sintesis de etileno en la hoja bandera fue mucho mayor y es estimulada por sacarosa y aia. La plata (agente antietileno) mantiene el efecto estimulador del acc sobre la sintesis de etileno. El etileno ejerce su efecto acelerador de la senescencia a partir de un nivel umbral.  las aplicaciones de plata retrasan la evolucion de la senescencia de la hoja bandera y la madurez del grano. La eliminacion de la espiga acelero la evolucion de la senescencia mediante el aumento del contenido de sacarosa en la hoja bandera.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
