La necesidad de disponer de estos productos de una forma rapida, sencilla y, en ocasiones, en gran cantidad, ha obligado a los quimicos que trabajan en sintesis de peptidos a refinar sus estrategias de sintesis. El avance ha sido espectacular, pero quedan diversos problemas para los que, todavia, no se ha encontrado una solucion satisfactoria. En el presente trabajo hemos utilizado los enzimas, en este caso las proteasas, para intentar dar solucion a algunos de los problemas que limitan el desarrollo de la quimica de peptidos.  estos han sido la condensacion de fragmentos y la proteccion regioselectiva de amino acidos polifuncionales. Concretamente, se ha llevado a cabo la sintesis de un nonapeptido mediante condensacion 5+4, utilizando alfa-quimotripsina.
