Para los problemas de primer y segundo orden periodicos, asi como para los de dirichlet y neumann, en este caso si n = 2, se introducen cuatro nuevos conceptos de subsolucion alfa y sobresolucion beta, a partir de las cuales se prueba la validez del metodo monotono, generalizando los supuestos ya conocidos.  asimismo se obtienen condiciones necesarias y suficientes en la funcion f para poder asegurar la existencia de solucion entre alfa y beta (concepto clasico) si n=3, y en los problemas de orden dos con alfa &#8211; beta. Para orden pa superior se consiguen mejoras siempre que alfa &lt;-beta.  con este fin se estudian principios del maximo para los operadores del tipo lu=u(n)+mu.
