Las causas mas probables de desactivacion son la deposicion de coque y un cierto grado de sinterizacion de la particula aglomerada. Se han puesta a punto dos tecnicas de caracterizacion basadas en la absorcion de n-parafinas, una en fase gas (test cromatografico de adsorcion, t.C.A.) Y otra en fase liquida (test dinamico de adsorcicon, t.D.A.). El estudio de la regeneracion se ha llevado a cabo en lecho fijo, empleando aire como gas regenerador, optimizandose las condiciones de operacion que conducen a un grado de regeneracion maximo, determinado y a partir de la capacidad de absorcion y de los parametros de difusion medidos por el t.C.A. Y t.D.A.  de esta forma, se obtuvieron tamices moleculares con grados de regeneracion superiores al 98% y razones de velocidades de difusion superiores al 60%.  finalmente se ha desarrollado un modelo
