Esta constituida, al menos, por cinco productos genicos implicados en procesos de condensacion y transporte de residuos acilos, ciclacion, cetorreduccion y deshidratacion. Adyacente a este agrupamiento se ha localizado un gen, orfo, cuyo producto genico presenta una alta homolog\u00eda con activadores de transcripcion pertenecientes a la familia lysr. La poliquetido sintetasa deducida de los genes aislados s. Antibioticus, mantiene una organizacion genica muy semejante a la que presentan el resto de las poliquetido sintetasas conocidas hasta el momento.  dada la gran homolog\u00eda de los genes aislados en s.  antibioticus con los genes tempranos correspondientes a la sintetasa de actinorrodina (valor medio 70%), es posible complementar de forma heterologa, las mutaciones act de s. Coelicolor con dna procedente de s.  antibioticus. Como resultado de la transformacion heterologa de s. Lividans con un fragmento del genoma de s. Antibioticus, se ha obtenido un nuevo pigmento no sintetizado en las cepas parentales. Podria ser el resultado de una ruta hibrida formada por intermediarios de la biosintesis de actinorrodina y intermediarios de la bisintesis de un poliquetido homologo en s.
