El analisis tematico de la nocion moderna de sustancia material y su contenido gnoseologico revela el sentido ultimo de la critica berkeleyana como un ensayo de enmienda fundamental al \u00abcogito\u00bb cartesiano que reclama como dato primigenio el de la \u00abconciencia en el mundo\u00bb y como cuestion metafisica fundamental la pregunta por el sentido de las cosas antes que aquella otra por su realidad.
