Durante dos o tres a\u00f1os se han controlado 15 caracteres cuantitativos (epocas de floracion inicial, plena y final, duracion de la floracion, intensidades de floracion y produccion, epoca de maduracion, duracion de la fructificacion, peso-cascara y semilla, rendimiento al descascarado, porcentaje de fallos y dobles, rugosidad y color de la semilla) y 2 cualitativos (autocompatibilidad y sabor de la semilla).  se ha calculado la heredabilidad de los caracteres cuantitativos y el modo de herencia de los cualitativos.  igualmente se han estudiado las correlaciones existentes entre la totalidad de los caracteres y se han determinado las posibles diferencias entre cruzamientos reciprocos.  mediante el calculo de las aptitudes combinatorias generales y especificas se ha evaluado la valia de los genitores y de las familias en la transmision de cada caracter.
