Sin embargo, ya han aparecido las primeras se\u00f1ales de alarma, marcando el peligro que supone desplazar el aprendizaje adecuado de aquellas hacia una utilizacion indiscriminada del software estadistico, favorecida por la dificultad inherente a las mismas. En este trabajo se explotan las cualidades docentes e investigadoras de un sencillo algoritmo numerico (sweep) para la estimacion y ajuste de modelos lineales, bajo la perspectiva de la comparacion de modelos.  basado en un conjunto de operaciones aritmeticas simples, el algoritmo sweep, mediante un procedimiento iterativo comun, permite obtener la inversa de una matriz simetrica de partida, si bien, los datos intermedios del proceso proporcionan la informacion necesaria para el ajuste de modelos lineales segun el criterio minimo cuadratico.  enmarcado dentro del contexto metodologico de las ciencias sociales en general, y del comportamiento en particular, el algoritmo es aplicado para el ajuste de modelos de regresion (regresion multiple; seleccion de variables y modelos; analisis correlacional de variables y conjuntos de variables; regresion multivariante; correlacion canonica; modelos path-analiticos) y modelos de dise\u00f1o experimental (dise\u00f1os factoriales inter, intra y mixtos; dise\u00f1os con covariantes inter, intra, mixtos y con multiples covariantes; modelos multivariantes de dise\u00f1o experimental; analisis discriminante; tecnicas analiticas
