El bazo se identifica por primera vez en lubinas, 18 dias despues de la eclosion, como un engrosamiento del mesenterio dorsal en el lado derecho del cuerpo. En las primeras etapas del desarrollo, el bazo presenta una intensa actividad eritropoyetica y trombopoyetica, estas funciones desaparecen en estado adulto, sin embargo, el predominio de eritrocitos y el gran numero de trombocitos presentes en el parenquima esplenico de lubinas en esta etapa, indican que el organo es un lugar de reserva de estos dos tipos celulares. Las celulas linfoiedes aparecen por primera vez a los 40 dias del desarrollo y en lubinas juveniles hay peque\u00f1as agrupaciones dispersas en el parenquima esplenico o en las proximidades de los vasos arteriales y centros melanomacrofagicos, representando la pulpa blanca del organo. Las primeras estructuras vasculares se observan a los 46 dias del desarrollo embrionario y aproximadamente a los 2 meses el bazo adquiere la vascularizacion definitiva.
