Lividans donde habian sido clonados. Se determino el sitio exacto en el que se inicia la transcripcion del gen salir y se caracterizo el promotor, al que denominamos prl. Se comprobo que el arnm sintetizado a partir de prl es policistronico, de modo que los genes sali constituyen un operon.  ademas se encontro un promotor que se denomino pm, que permite la expresion independiente del gen de modificacion. Se determino el sitio exacto de iniciacion de la transcripcion a partir de pm y se caracterizo el promotor. Para cuantificar la fuerza de estos promotores, se realizaron fusiones genicas, demostrandose que aunque ambos son promotores debiles, prl, responsable de la sintesis del arnm policistronico, es mas fuerte que pm.  paralelamente se determino que las pautas de lectura, orf3 y orf4, asi como posiblemente orf5 no intervienen en la regulacion del sistema.  tambien se estudio la expresion del sistema en e.
