Esta tesis presenta los resultados obtenidos usando laseres de nd-yag y de co2 para tratar recubrimientos ceramicos de cr2o3 y al2o3 proyectados por plasma, estableciendo los parametros optimos para efectuar dicho tratamiento.  se ha empleado la tecnica de laser glazing para realizar el tratamiento. Por otra parte, los ensayos de desgaste, realizados con un tribometro lwf-1, en pares acerorecubrimiento ceramico en contacto lineal, mostraron un mejor comportamiento, tanto del acero como de la ceramica, bajo condiciones de seco y abrasivo, debido basicamente al cambio originado por el tratamiento con laser en la microestructura del recubrimiento.
