En los tratados generales sobre este autor se suele indicar que el arte o desaparece o pasa a un segundo plano en el resto de su obra. Esta tesis parte de la hipotesis contraria, mostrando que existe una continuidad a lo largo de todo el pensamiento. El resultado es el siguiente: aunque en las primeras obras de su segundo periodo, nietzsche abandona la preocupacion por los temas ontologicos y critica al arte y a la figura del artista, a partir de la \u00abgaya ciencia\u00bb vuelve a recuperarse un papel central para la estetica y su relacion con la ontolog\u00eda. De esta manera, en el final de sus obras se recuperan los primeros temas de su produccion, aunque matizados criticamente por los estudios psicologicos y del lenguaje.
