Partiendo del an\u00e1lisis de los misiones populares que en todas la poblaciones vascongadas predicaban los franciscanos del colegio de misioneros de zarautz (1746-1840), as\u00ed como del sermonario y de la literatura escrita en euskera (casi totalmente religiosa), se estudian las caracter\u00edsticas espec\u00edficas que la pastoral cat\u00f3lica postridentina adquiri\u00f3 en el caso vasco. \u00e9Sta se conjug\u00f3 aqu\u00ed con los mitos diferenciadores (monote\u00edsmo primitivo, cristianizaci\u00f3n temprana, vascocantabrismo, tubalismo, origen pr\u00edstino del euskera &#8230;) Que hab\u00eda ido forjando la tradici\u00f3n vasca desde el siglo xvi. Pero fue especialmente en esa \u00e9poca de crisis generalizada, en esos cincuenta a\u00f1os que van desde la explosi\u00f3n en la vecina francia (1789) hasta el fin de la primera guerra carlista (1839), cuando se sentaron las bases para la identificaci\u00f3n entre vasco y cat\u00f3lico (euskaldum fededum), que se convertir\u00eda en un lugar com\u00fan a medida que avanzaba el s.
