En celulas vegetales la participacion del sistema no esta tan clara. En esta memoria de tesis doctoral se ha demostrado la participacion del sistema calcio-calmodulina en dos procesos inducidos por la fitohosmona auxina: la extrusion de protones en coleoptilos de avena y la elongacion celular en coleoptilos de maiz. La participacion del sistema calcio-camodulina en estos dos procesos fisiologicos se ha demostrado mediante la utilizacion de antagonistas de calmodulina. Estos compuestos inhiben las funciones reguladas por la calmodulina. Los antagonistas de calmodulina inhiben la extrusion de protones y crecimiento por elongacion inducido por la fitohormona auxina. Estos compuestos ademas de su accion especifica sobre la calmodulina pueden tener efectos laterales, estos se han estudiado mediante el analisis de los aminoacidos presentes en la mezcla de
