Se ha elaborado un modelo farmacocinetico fisiologico limitado por el flujo sanguineo para describir la disposicion de la ceftazidima en la rata. Dicho modelo incluye 10 compartimentos anatomicos (plasma arterial, plasma venoso, corazon, pulmones, higado, intestino, ri\u00f1ones, grasa, musculo y piel), 9 de ellos no eliminadores y 1 eliminador (ri\u00f1ones). El modelo se ha validado en la rata y se ha extrapolado al hombre, con el fin de predecir la disposicion de la ceftazidima tanto en voluntarios sanos como en individuos con la funcion renal alterada. Por otra parte, a nivel alometrico, la normalizacion de las concentraciones plasmaticas de la ceftazidima obtenidas en tres especies animales (rata, perro y hombre) de acuerdo con el metodo de dedrick (12), da lugar a la superposicion de los niveles de las dos especies animales de laboratorio, observandose, sin embargo, un alejamiento en el caso del hombre. Por el contrario, el metodo de normalizacion propuesto por torres-molina y col.
