En ambos casos se estudia su posible utilidad sintetica.  las arilhidrazinas son oxidadas con sales cupricas en condiciones suaves, dando lugar a ar  , que pueden evolucionar dando biarilos, halogenuros de arilo mediante transferencia del ligando de la sal cuprica, o productos de reduccion del ar    . Cuando dicha oxidacion tiene lugar en presencia de olefinas, se produce un acoplamiento entre el ar     y el doble enlace de la olefina, dando lugar al producto de halogenoarilacion o al de arilacion reductiva cuando se utilizo un halogenuro o un sulfato cuprico, respectivamente. La utilizacion de olefinas con sustituyentes quirales que pudieran inducir asimetria dio lugar a reacciones laterales.
