Sus principales ventajas son que (i) proporciona verdadera informacion a nivel molecular y (ii) no se requiere ningun tipo de sonda externa en el sistema estudiado. En el campo de las biomembranas, donde otras tecnicas biofisicas encuentran serios problemas para su aplicacion, el ft-ir puede aportar conclusiones interesantes sobre la estructura de lipidos y proteinas.  en la presente tesis se ha aplicado la espectroscopia ft-ir a varios sistemas de membrana y se han obtenido conclusiones acerca del centro hidrofobico de la bicapa lipidica, la disposicion de la ubiquinona-10 en la membrana, las transiciones a estructura no lamelar que adopta la transiciones a estructura no lamelar que adopta la fosfatidilelatnolamina y la estructura de dos proteinas de
