Su actividad es la mayor entre las peptidasas neuronales. A nivel cerebral, se les ha implicado en el control, entre otros, de encefalinas, trh, lhrh, vasopresina etc.  se ha propuesto que un gran numero de neuropeptidos participan en el control neural de la actividad reproductiva.
