Se han aislado tambien intermedios de estas reacciones, lo que ha ayudado a discutir el posible mecanismo.  el estudio de la reactividad de bis(iluro) complejos de oro(ii) ha conducido a una gran variedad de compuestos en este estado de oxidacion: i) nuevos derivados neutros (xau(ch2pph2ch2)2aux), ii) derivados dicationicos (lau(ch2pph2ch2)2aul)2+. Iii) derivados polinucleares con halogeno o pseudohalogeno puente (xau(ch2pph2ch2)2au)n(clo4)n, (xau(ch2pph2ch2)2aux-au(c6f5)3). Iv) derivados neutros, mono- o dicationicos donde los ligandos coordinados a centros metalicos son diferentes.  a partir de (au(ch2pph2ch2)au) o derivados de oro(ii) y mediante reacciones de sustitucion de un ligando facilmente desplazable por fragmentos metalicos, de han obtenido derivados de Valencia mixta que contienen unidades lineales au35+, au59+ o au610+ con enlaces oro-oro no
