En el campo de las estructuras, se ha concretado el estudio en el problema de la obtencion de la geometria optima del tendon de pretensado de una viga continua de varios tramos.  las variables de dise\u00f1o de este problema son las alturas a las que se encuentra situado el tendon en cada seccion de la viga que se somete a estudio. La fuerza de pretensado tambien es una variable de dise\u00f1o.  este problema, que en principio en no lineal, puede formularse en forma lineal realizando un cambio de variable. El problema posee basicamente dos grupos diferentes de condiciones: las condiciones de comportamiento y las condiciones de dise\u00f1o.  en el caso general, los problemas lineales poseen un unico minimo que es la solucion. Sin embargo, se pueden dar situaciones singulares en las que la solucion no sea unica, apareciendo infinitos minimos. Esta particularidad se da en el problema estudiado aqui, cuando sus condiciones activas son las de caracter tensional (condiciones de comportamiento).  el problema que se ha planteado fue estudiado por u. Kirsch particularizandolo para determinadas caracteristicas, asegurando el autor que la solucion obtenida era unica.
