Utilizando un sistema bifasico constituido basicamente por los polimeros dextrano (dx) y polietilenglico (peg) se ha conseguido aislar la enzima xantina oxidasa a partir de leche, a escala analitica, mediante distribucion en contracorriente con centrifugacion (dccc). Tambien fue posible la separacion de las otras dos proteinas, procedentes de lactosuero, introduciendo en el sistema bifasico peg-palmitato como ligando de afinidad.  asimismo, se llevo a cabo un estudio de la extraccion de estas dos ultimas proteinas usando un sistema bifasico alternativo mas barato, constituido por aquaphase ppt y peg, tanto en dccc como en \u00abbatch\u00bb, lo que permitio
