Si la intensidad del campo externo (laser) es comparable o superior a la interaccion nucleo-electron un tratamiento perturbativo de la ecuacion de schrodinger no es apto. Se han analizado procesos de ionizacion multifotonica para modelos en una y tres dimensiones. Asi mismo se han establecido conexiones entre los resultados obtenidos en los modelos unidimensionales y los modelos tridimensionales.  es posible reducir algunos estudios tridimensionales a modelos unidimensionales. El papel desempe\u00f1ado por el potencial atomico es sin duda alguna imprescindible pero la ionizacion multifotonica presenta caracteristicas y peculiaridades \u00abuniversales\u00bb es decir
