En el contexto de estas ideas fue desarrollado un programa de instruccion consistente en dos partes: la primera era un curso de 30 horas de duracion en la cual los profesores recibian informacion sobre el tipo de estrategias implicadas en el proceso de identificacion de las ideas principales y en como ense\u00f1arlas en el aula. La segunda parte incluye 15 sesiones de practica (30 horas) en sesiones quincenales.  el programa fue aplicado a 26 profesores (15 experimentales y 11 controles) y a 590 alumnos (303 experimentales y 287 controles). Los resultados mostraron efectos significativos del entrenamiento tanto en el caso de los profesores como de los alumnos tanto en la variable criterio de comprension (identificacion de las ideas principales) como en las variables mediadoras (conocimientos de la estructura textual y representacion jerarquica).
