La desacilacion del diacilglicerol no parece jugar un papel fundamental en este proceso. Las aciltranferasas controlan los niveles de aa una vez que este ha sido liberado. Existe en macrofagos un sistema de reacilacion especifico para acidos grasos poliinsaturados de 20 atomos de carbono. El influjo de calcio desde el exterior sustenta la liberacion de aa, la cual es independiente de la hidrolisis de fosfoinositidos. La proteina quinasa c participa en la regulacion de la liberacion de aa en un paso posterior al aquel en que lo que hace el calcio.
