La proteina p100 tiene la capacidad de adoptar diversas conformaciones para constituir distintos agregados bidimensionales cristalinos. Se les ha denominado tipo s1 (con simetria p6), tipo p52 (con simetria p3) y tipo 52 (con simetria p2). Las estructuras p52 y 52 muestran un gran parecido estructural con las porinas de bacterias gram negativas.  se ha puesto a punto un sistema para la localizacion de epitopos en estructuras periodicas constituidas por una proteina mayoritaria, mediante el uso de fragmentos fab de anticuerpos monocionales cuya especificidad antigenica es conocida previamente, y tecnicas de procesamiento digital de imagenes este metodo ha permitido localizar el extremo amino de la proteina p100 en el centro de simetria p6 del cristal s1 (equivalente a la capas observada in vivo).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
