Se han acotado regiones de reconocimiento para p6 en los origenes de replicacion, concluyendose que la curvabilidad del dna puede ser un factor importante para el reconocimiento. Se ha estudiado la estructura del complejo y se propone un modelo en el cual el dna forma una superhelice dextrogira curvandose cada 12-13 bp. La activacion de la replicacion requiere la formacion de este complejo y su correcto posicionamiento respecto al sitio en que comienza la replicacion. Ademas, se ha identificado una region de 24 bp rica en poli-pirimidinas que se requiere para la activacion pero no para la interaccion y que se propone que esta implicada en inducir la
