Sin embargo, la funci\u00f3n de la mayor\u00eda permanece sin desvelar y hay una gran desproporci\u00f3n entre la informaci\u00f3n disponible sobre la estructura g\u00e9nica y los datos relativos en su funci\u00f3n. Una de las herramientas m\u00e1s \u00fatiles empleada por los investigadores para resolver este problema consiste en la obtenci\u00f3n de ratones portadores de mutaciones en determinados genes que est\u00e1 permitiendo analizar sus funciones in vivo. El gen cuya funci\u00f3n se investiga en este trabajo, el hr, fue clonado en 1994 por cach\u00f3n-gonz\u00e1lez y cols. Y su patr\u00f3n de expresi\u00f3n durante el desarrollo, as\u00ed como alguna de las alteraciones que se derivan de su mutaci\u00f3n fueron analizados recientemente. Sin embargo, un gran n\u00famero de \u00f3rganos en los que se expresa este gen fueron investigados en detalle, otros fueron obviados simplemente y, finalmente otros en los que no se ha detectado la expresi\u00f3n del gen pueden estar afectados (caso del timo). Por otro lado, existen evidencias de que el efecto de la mutaci\u00f3n del gen hr es potenciado por el envejecimiento. Este trabajo se centra en el an\u00e1lisis del fenotipo causado por la mutaci\u00f3n rhino-j del gen hr en el sistema nervioso central y ent\u00e9rico, la retina y el timo. La hip\u00f3tesis que plantea este estudio es la siguiente: adem\u00e1s del papel desempe\u00f1ado en la piel durante el ciclo de renovaci\u00f3n del fol\u00edculo piloso, el gen hr pueden intervenir en funciones espec\u00edficas en los \u00f3rganos donde se expresa y, por tanto, la mutaci\u00f3n rhino-j puede causar alteraciones tanto fisiol\u00f3gicas como estructurales en dichos
