Los artistas nativos, han conseguido que el arte deje de ser tribal para convertirse en una via de comunicacion entre culturas, estan inmersos en el mundo moderno, pero la herencia cultural recibida da un caracter especial a sus obras.  los nativos de la costa noroeste de canada desarrollaron una cultura muy compleja y de gran riqueza plastica de la cual se nutren escultores, pintores y grabadores actuales.
