Para ello se han elaborado un algoritmo de estimacion y unos algoritmos complementarios para el analisis de la observabilidad y sensibilidad del proceso.  en primer lugar se describen los fundamentos del proceso de fangos activos y su modelado matematico, asi como una basica introduccion a las teorias de observabilidad y estimacion del estado de un sistema. Posteriormente se presenta la estructura del filtro de kalman desarrollado para la estimacion de las variables de estado y los coeficientes desconocidos del modelo de biodegradacion utilizado.  la fase de verificacion del algoritmo se basa en su aplicacion a diferentes condiciones de operacion de la planta y el posterior analisis de los resultados obtenidos. Para ello se estudia su comportamiento cuando la planta se encuentra sometida a caudales periodicos, perturbaciones bruscas, procesos de inhibicion, perdida de informacion,
