Los anillos fueron incubados durante dos minutos en presencia de los metales. La entrada de d-galactosa, a concentraciones comprendidas entre 0,5 y 20mm, se inhibe significativamente por cu2+, 1mm, zn2+ 1 mm y hg2+ 0,5 mm, aunque sigue incluyendo un componente saturable. El componente pasivo de entrada del azucar, estimado en presencia de florricina 0,5 mm, no se modifica por ninguno de los tres metales estudiados, lo que indica que la inhibicion se ejerce sobre el sistema de transporte.  el sistema de transporte de l-fenilalanina (0,5- 10 mm) dependiente de na+ se inhibe significativamente por cu2+ y zn2+ 0,5 y 1 mm y por hg2+ (0,2-1 mm), mientras que el componente de entrada pasiva del aminoacido (obtenido en presencia de met 40 mm) y el sistema de transporte independiente de na+ (experimentos en ausencia de na+) no se modifican. La inhibicion producida por estos metales sobre el sistema de transporte de d-galactosa y l-fenilalanina resulta ser de tipo no competitivo con un claro descenso de la vmax y sin cambio significativo
