En la primera de ellas se resumen los fundamentos de la teoria del funcional de la densidad. Se expone el teorema de hohenberg y kohn y otros problemas asociados, se revisa el metodo de kohn y sham, y se presentan algunos funcionales empleados para aproximar la energia de correlacion. La segunda parte consiste fundamentalmente en una descripcion de las tecnicas computacionales empleadas. Se repasan brevemente los metodos mas utilizados para resolver las ecuaciones de kohn y sham, y se propone un esquema de integracion numerica automatica tridimensional para la evaluacion de los funcionales de energia de correlacion.
