La cantidad adsorbida de fosfato por unidad de superficie era, aproximadamente, un 40% mas con respecto al fosfato total adsorbido. El fosfato adsorbido por unidad de superficie a corto plazo disminuia a medida que aumentaba la relacion diametro\/espesor de los cristales apoyando la hipotesis de una distribucion no uniforme de los sitios de adsorcion. Las hematites que mostraron una mayor capacidad de adsorcion del fosfato eran de morfolog\u00eda esferica, donde, pueden predominar las caras no basales. Las muestras que adsorbieron menos fosfato por unidad de superficie tuvieron una mas intensa adsorcion lenta. La adsorcion lenta y la capacidad de desorcion no estaban relacionadas con la morfolog\u00eda y con la presencia de irregularidad en la superficie de las hematites.
