Se han estudiado electroquimicamente las bases y los compuestos carbonilicos. Para estos se ha encontrado que los procesos de reduccion invlucran una reaccion de deshidratacion y transferencias quasi-reversibles. Se han obtenido las constantes de equilibrio asi como  h de las reacciones de hidratacion.  se ha utilizado el test de ames con salmonella typhimurium ta100 comprobandose que las actividades mutagenicas son bajas. La actividad corregida para la hidratacion disminuye para las series: aldehidos, cetonas enolizables, cetonas no enolizables, y al aumentar el tama\u00f1o del sustituyente en cada serie. Por medidas electroquimicas se pone de manifiesto la relacion estructura-actividad. Se han calculado las constantes de equilibrio de  h para la formacion de aductos entre compuestos a-dicarbonilicos y bases puricas.
