En lo que se refiere a la descomposicion de n-bromoaminoacidos los resultados obtenidos apuntan a la existencia de dos procesos diferentes: a) un proceso de descarboxilacion concertado, que es el que predomina a valores de ph comprendidos entre 9 y 11, y que conduce a la formacion de co2, br y una imina, hidrolizandose esta en una etapa rapida posterior para dar el aldehido correspondiente y amoniaco; y b) un proceso de eliminacion e2, predominante a valores de ph mayores que 11, que da lugar a la formacion de un alfa-iminoacido, que posteriormente se hidroliza para dar el alfa-cetoacido correspondiente y amoniaco.  para el caso de la reaccion de hidrolisis de n-bromoaminas, los resultados obtenidos permiten plantear un mecanismo en el cual la reaccion tiene lugar a traves de la forma protonada de la n-bromoamina. A partir del mecanismo propuesto se pueden obtener, ademas de las constantes de velocidad de hidrolisis, los valores de pka de las n-bromoaminas estudiadas.
