Se ha definido el modulo proteico de las chaperoninas responsable de la interaccion de estas proteinas con superficies proteicas interactivas y se han propuesto los restos aminoacidicos esenciales para la actividad chaperonina de las subunidades alfa y de las chaperoninas, lo que ha podido ser demostrado mediante estudios de plegamiento proteico in vitro. Se ha demostrado que la catalasa se encuentra en la mitocondria de higado de rata en forma inactiva y con un peso molecular ligeramente inferior al de la proteina de eritrocitos y peroxisomas. Finalmente, se ha puesto a punto un sistema analitico de alta resolucion basado en la electroforesis bidimensional para el estudio del procesamiento de precursores proteicos
