A su vez, se muestra que la estimulacion electrica contingente del area tegmental ventral induce la recuperacion funcional en la ejecucion de las diferentes tareas estudiadas tras lesiones de la corteza cerebral. En base a los modelos desarrollados se presentan evidencias histologicas, electrofisiologicas y conductuales de que la recuperacion funcional tras lesiones de la corteza cerebral se debe a la capacidad de areas adyacentes a la zona lesionada para asumir el papel funcional de esta. Ademas, se estudia la organizacion topografica de la corteza motora primaria de la rata y se presentan evidencias sobre la relacion entre las asimetrias a nivel conductual tras lesiones corticales y a nivel topografico. Finalmente, el estudio profundiza en los mecanismos que podrian explicar no solo la reorganizacion tras lesiones corticales sino tambien la reorganizacion continua a lo largo de la vida del
