Nieves <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A traves del analisis del efecto que producen la consanguinidad y la seleccion artificial sobre la viabilidad huevo-pupa de una poblacion de drosophila melanogaster se estudia la naturaleza y posible utilizacion de la varianza genetica de los caracteres proximos a eficacia biologica. El efecto de la consanguinidad se analizo en cuatro grupos de 16 lineas con coeficiente de consanguinidad inicial fo=0, 0,25, 0,50 y 0,75, respectivamente. Las lineas fo=0 muestran una heredabilidad promedio de 0,29 (calculada tras una generacion de seleccion para aumento del caracter), y con la consanguinidad (hasta fo=0,5) se detecta depresion de la media e incremento de las varianzas aditiva intralinea y genetica interlineas. En el programa de seleccion artificial se crearon tres estructuras poblacionales, dos de ellas divididas en seis lineas con fo=0 (poblacion so) y fo=0,25 (poblacion sc) respectivamente, sometidas a ciclos repetidos de seleccion intra e interlineas, y la poblacion u con seis veces el censo de las lineas anteriores y fo=0. En los tres casos la mayor parte de la respuesta se alcanza a corto plazo. A medio plazo, so y sc muestran ventaja sobre la poblacion u, destacando especialmente sc. A largo plazo dicha ventaja desaparece.  la respuesta a la seleccion en sentido inverso proporciono resultados positivos en sc y u. Los resultados son coherentes con la segregacion paralela de pocos loci aditivos de efecto relativamente importante y de loci con alelos recesivos deletereos a frecuencia inicial baja que juntos determinan la variabilidad genetica del caracter.
