Se han caracterizado cuatro isoformas, dos de ellas intratalinas, sujetas a induccion nutricional por arginina, una tercera, intratalina y constitutiva y una cuarta, inducible y segregable al medio. Del analisis de aminoacidos, determinacion de peso molecular y punto isoelectrico, espectros de absorcion ultravioleta y de emision de fluorescencia se deduce que las dos isoformas inducibles son identicas entre si, asi como, probablemente la forma segregable. La diferencia de peso molecular entre esta y las dos anteriores radica probablemente en un residuo polisacaridico. Los diferentes fenoles con acceso a cada una de las isoformas actuan como efectores de las mismas.
