Las primeras afirman que el comportamiento o la accion de los individuos observados en cualquier cultura esta sobredeterminado por una clase de organismo suprabiologico (sea lo \u00absocial\u00bb lo \u00absistemico\u00bb lo \u00absuperorganico\u00bb lo \u00abestructural\u00bb, etc) que siguiendo el dictado de sus propias necesidades o el imperativo de su propia logica condiciona por completo la voluntad de los agentes. Las segundas aseveran lo contrario la realidad social es el resultado de la intervencion constante e incondicionada de la voluntad.  el problema de la representacion de la accion es resuelto en ambos casos de forma contraria en el primero el cientifico social asume incuestionadamente una posicion supuestamente privilegiada desde la que cree que puede registrar sin distorsion y \u00abobjetivamente\u00bb el devenir de los acontecimientos en el segundo rechazada la idea de que existen posiciones de seguridad y repudiada la concepcion de que el antropologo sabe mas de las practicas de los individuos que observa que los propios implicados se mantiene que el cientifico debe conformarse con registrar, en forma de cronica periodistica, la informacion proporcionada por los informantes.  el argumento central de la tesis doctoral es que la dicotomia que esta en el centro de todas las discusiones de la ciencia social es solo superable mediante un examen de las condiciones sociales de produccion del conocimiento, es decir, mediante una reduccion sociologica de los juicios cientificos y ordinarios o cotidianos, de manera que, comprobando como funcionan en estado practico, cuales son los resultados practicos que obtienen, no pueda seguir manteniendose la existencia de ninguna clase de conocimiento o discernimiento puro.
