En este trabajo se han realizado estudios de deteccion de htlv en 1) poblacion general (donantes de sangre) en un pais africano endemico para htlv-i y en dos paises europeos (portugal y espa\u00f1a), 2) poblacion con practicas de riesgo (adictos a drogas por via parenteral) y 3) patolog\u00edas cutaneas como micosis fungoide (relacionado con la infeccion por htlv). El resultado de estos estudios dan una tasa de preValencia de la infeccion por htlv del 0,7% en poblacion general africana (con la deteccion de htlv-ii), del 16\/100.000 en portugal y posiblemente una tasa inferior a 4\/100.000 en espa\u00f1a al no poder detectar: la presencia de htlv en la muestra estudiada. Se detecto un 0,67% en poblacion con practicas de riesgo y no detectamos la presencia de htlv en los casos de micosis fungoide. El aislamiento de los primeros htlv-ii espa\u00f1oles nos permitio caracterizarlos fenotipicamente, asi como geneticamente. Los estudios de secuenciacion de estos aislados espa\u00f1oles permitio clasificarlos dentro del subtipo b de los htlv-ii.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
